Luka Slabe of the Women's USA National Team explains what a hitter can do when the set is imprecise either because it is too tight to the net, too far off of the net, or too inside or outside of the pin.

One great option is the tool: Using the wrist to angle the ball off of the blocker's hands (this can sometimes be called a "swipe" or "wipe")and forcing an error for the other team. Another powerful tool to practice is to hit high off of the hands, sending the ball so deep the diggers aren't able to reach it. For all of these attacks, the elbow and hand need to stay high and powerful; dropping the elbow will most likely result in a stuff block.
