It was their dream to get married in a five-star venue.

It was a dream to get married in a five-star venue. They had been planning the wedding for a long time and wanted it to be a memorable event. There are many options, but they chose Mayfair Lagoon and Mayfair Convention, two highly-rated venues in Bhubaneswar. Their wedding was an Odia wedding, which is a traditional one in India.

Mayfair Lagoon, Bhubaneswar is known as the finest hotel in Odisha. Mayfair Convention at Mayfair Lagoon is no different than the hotel.

They have hosted weddings for many Indian celebrities for years. They are also a favorite destination for business meetings and conventions because of their amazing conference facilities and unique style of hospitality. Mayfair Convention, Bhubaneswar can host conferences that can accommodate up to 1000 people. It's perfect for small-medium events too. We particularly loved their banquet hall which had a great ambience and lighting system. Their outdoor lawns are also very well maintained and perfect for an outdoor wedding ceremony!

The wedding rituals were conducted by their respective priests in the morning and then they had a photo session with me.

The wedding rituals are all the different ceremonies involved in an Odia wedding. In most cases, a priest performs the rituals and tells the bride and groom what to do. Although the order can vary, here's how it usually goes:

The bride's mother or aunt ties a knot between both of her hands with a piece of cloth; this symbolizes that she'll be tied to her husband for life.

The couple is given water from three earthen pots (kalash, which have mango leaves inside them) to wash their hands with; this symbolizes purity

The couple sits down on an odd number of planks (like five). They're each given a handful of puffed rice that they throw at each other; this symbolizes fertility

And then came the Baarat and the Groom entered the Mayfair Convention Premises.

The dance floor was set on fire as the Baaraat entered. You can see the groom doing his signature Bhangra moves and dancing to the tunes of some popular Odia Bollywood songs! Of course, his bride joined him as well.

The best way to get attention at any Indian wedding is with loud music and lights, isn’t it?

It was time to settle down at Mayfair Convention Hall for the rest of this grand affair. The Baraat Dance was at its peak and everyone was enjoying it to the core. The excitement of the guests knew no bounds. It was a grand Odia wedding affair.
