The CBI has summoned senior office-bearers of the TVK party in connection with the Karur stampede case, which claimed 41 lives during a political rally on September 27, 2025.

TVK General Secretaries Bussy N. Anand and Aadhav Arjunaa have been asked to appear at the CBI headquarters in Delhi as part of the ongoing investigation. Other party functionaries are also being called to record statements.

The case relates to a massive public meeting addressed by actor-turned-politician Vijay, where severe overcrowding, inadequate safety measures, and poor crowd management allegedly led to the deadly stampede.

Following concerns over the initial probe, the Supreme Court transferred the case to the CBI. The agency is now examining accountability, lapses in event planning, and compliance with safety norms, amid heightened scrutiny over political rallies in Tamil Nadu ahead of the upcoming state elections.
