new 24" string bass banjo

The newest Garrison string bass banjo is a 24" fretless model. It has been over 20 years since I started making these and they have proven to hold up very well over time. Most people prefer the 24" size and the fretted/fretless issue is fairly well divided with a little more preference for the fretted kind. All work is done in my own shop here is Indiana. Most parts are American or German manufacture. That will probably be hard to maintain in the future as I'm running to the end of my supply of parts. I've left this one fretless (which I personally prefer) but the purchaser can have me (or someone else) add frets. I sold one several years ago where I put white ivory (from old piano keys) in the fret slots as position markers. The bass breaks down easily for shipping with the neck separate from the shell. I have produced videos that show how to disassemble and reassemble for shipping. This bass banjo has Super Sensitive Red Label 1/2 size bass viol strings. I'm offering this instrument at $1,400. Shipping is extra and adding frets is an extra $200 option. This is a custom made instrument and I assure you that the price reflects pretty close to minimum wage for the labor required. I worked a long time on the design over twenty years ago and I am very proud that I developed a viable instrument that not only sounds good but holds up very well.
