In the context of physics and theoretical frameworks such as string theory and M-theory, dimensions refer to spatial or spatiotemporal dimensions that describe the structure of our universe. While we commonly perceive three dimensions of space (length, width, and height), there are various theories that propose additional dimensions beyond our ordinary experience. Here are some of the commonly discussed dimensions:

Zero-dimensional: A zero-dimensional object has no length, width, or height. It can be thought of as a point or a singularity.

One-dimensional: A one-dimensional object has length but no width or height. It can be represented as a line or a curve.

Two-dimensional: A two-dimensional object has length and width but no height. Examples include a plane or a flat surface.

Three-dimensional: Our everyday experience is in three-dimensional space, which includes length, width, and height. It is the space we perceive and interact with.

Beyond the first three dimensions, there are additional dimensions that are not directly observable but are theorized in certain scientific frameworks:

Fourth dimension: In physics, the fourth dimension is often associated with time. This concept is known as spacetime, where time is considered as the fourth dimension along with the three spatial dimensions.

Higher-dimensional theories: Some theoretical frameworks, such as string theory and M-theory, propose the existence of extra dimensions beyond the four we commonly experience. These dimensions are often compactified or curled up at incredibly small scales, making them imperceptible in our everyday observations. The exact number of extra dimensions can vary depending on the specific version of the theory, but they often propose six or seven additional dimensions, resulting in a total of ten or eleven dimensions.

It's important to note that the existence of these additional dimensions is still a topic of ongoing research and debate in physics. While they provide elegant solutions to certain problems in theoretical physics, experimental evidence to directly confirm their existence is currently lacking.
