Classical Guitar Nail Filing and Buffing Tips by Tariq Harb

Many of you have asked me on social media to make a nail filing/care video, and finally I found some time to do it!
It covers how I file my nails when I’ve played a lot and need to adjust/file them again to regain the good tone and feel in every stroke in every finger. It’s important to differentiate, in my opinion, how we file our nails on a regular basis vs. how we file our nails when we’ve been away from the guitar for a while, for example, after we’ve come back from a vacation. The process is different, at least for me, because in the former situation the nails have been “eaten up” or “used up” by the strings. Whereas in the latter situation, the nail on each finger grows evenly. Therefore, the filing approach needs to be different to achieve the same result, and that is one which produces good tone, while at the same time giving the feeling of power in the sound without effort. In this video I show you how I file my nails when filing is done on a regular basis.
