G7 climate, environment, and energy ministers are meeting April 28-30th in one of the first tests of the historic COP 28 agreement to transition away from fossil fuels, triple renewable energy capacity, and double energy efficiency globally. Rich countries are expected to show leadership. Yet they are still wasting billions on fossil fuel subsidies, licensing more oil and gas production, and making patchy progress on clean energy deployment.

At this media briefing, experts from leading climate think tanks ECCO, E3G, and IISD outline the next steps for G7 countries and what a good outcome from the meeting would look like.
