It is with ‍a heavy heart that we bid farewell to the legendary Ustad Rashid Khan, a virtuoso whose mastery of classical music touched the hearts of millions. Ustad Rashid Khan breathed his last on Tuesday, January 9, at the age of 55.

A scion of the Rampur-Sahaswan Gharana, Khan's musical journey was steeped in a rich legacy. As the great-grandson of Inayat Hussain Khan and the nephew of Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan, Rashid Khan's artistry was nurtured by a lineage of musical giants. He developed great vocal prowess under the mentorship of Ustad Nissar Hussain Khan. His unique style incorporated slow elaboration, showcasing a profound understanding of the intricacies and nuances of ragas.

Ustad Rashid Khan's graced the Bengal Classical Music Festival stage for five unforgettable editions. His presence at the Bengal Classical Music Festival was nothing short of magical, weaving a tapestry of emotions through his soulful renditions that left an indelible mark on the festival's legacy.

Rashid Khan's contribution to the Indian classical music landscape has been rightfully acknowledged with numerous accolades, including the prestigious Padma Shree, Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, Global Indian Music Awards, and the Maha Sangeet Samman.
