In this video we'll discuss how to create and use routes in Express.js

Routes can be thought of as any URL address that we navigate to or retrieve data from

First, we'll discuss route handling - and how to use REST verbs in our routes

Next, we'll discuss how to use and pass parameters using the colon sign

I will then show we can the question mark and equal sign to retrieve query's from the URL

Finally, we'll take a look at the router method and put it all together in a simple example app

A common aspect of web apps is the need to pass a query string to an API route and retrive some data. This usually occurs when a user is performing some search. We can grab on to that query string by using the question mark equal sign. The example below shows how we can create a route that's able to retrive the query from the URL. We are using the query method that is built into express and attaching it to the request object.
