Urban Kayaking on the Arthur Kill in Elizabeth NJ

Описание к видео Urban Kayaking on the Arthur Kill in Elizabeth NJ

Join me on a thrilling kayak adventure at Elizabeth Veterans Memorial Waterfront Park, shot the day before Father's Day. This journey was both challenging and exhilarating as I navigated the Arthur Kill waterway, known for its unpredictable conditions. Launching from beneath a pier and limboing under high-pressure gas lines, I faced strong winds and the surprise of large tugboat wakes. Along the way, I explored iconic sites like the Arthur Kill lift bridge and the Goethals Bridge. A massive wake near the lift bridge was particularly scary, but I managed to navigate back safely. On my return, I raced against a tugboat wake to get under the pier without getting rocked by the waves.

Once back on land, I docked at the Elizabeth River and explored the unique Front Street Bridge, which is permanently stuck at a 45-degree angle. I also met three fishermen on the pier: Rob, Anwar, and Smoke from Newark, who described a fish they caught that had wings! Discover the excitement and challenges of urban kayaking in this unforgettable journey.
