WJLA24/7 News: Robotic Surgery As a Treatment for Colon Cancer

Описание к видео WJLA24/7 News: Robotic Surgery As a Treatment for Colon Cancer

VHC Health's Dr. Craig Rezac recently spoke with WJLA's Dave Lucas on the importance of getting screened for colon cancer. Dr. Rezac shared there has been a tenfold increase in the number of instances of colon cancer in people under 50, so last year, the suggested screening age for colon cancer dropped from 50 to 45 years old. As a result, there have been significantly fewer cases of colon cancer in people 50+, as potentially cancerous polyps can be detected at an earlier stage. One treatment for cancerous polyps is robotic surgery, a minimally invasive procedure that greatly reduces pain, hospitalization and recovery time, and risk of complications. VHC Health is the only hospital in the region designated as a “Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery by Surgical Review Corporation'' and has 2 out of 103 Master Surgeons globally, Dr. Rezac and Dr. Rodolfo Pigalarga.
