Tango - promenade... the placement of feet and mechanics of getting there...note that the first step in promenade figures is "side" taken heel first, along LOD pointing DW or (DC for lady). (Promenade figures are both directional and also have alignments) If the man was pointing LOD he would then be moving DC. We see this description in other dances such as in the chasse from promenade in waltz (but now we would say "facing" DW, moving along LOD). It may seem dry but in fact understanding these points corrects a multitude of flaws and the theory is fully practical in developing quality.
