🔥 Massive Chugging ALCo with MGR Chennai Central - New Jalpaiguri SF Express rattles through SURI

22611/12 MGR Chennai Central - New Jalpaiguri - MGR Chennai Central Weekly SF Express is one of the Three Last surviving Diesel hauled regular Express train that is running till New Jalpaiguri [NJP] with a diesel locomotive. The other trains are 15721/22 Paharia Express and 13149/50 Kanchan Kanya Express. This train is one of the very few trains which are still running with a diesel locomotive through/from Eastern Railway territory such as 13053/54 Kulik Express and 13161/62 Tebhaga Express.

The electrification work between Malda Town [MLDT] and New Jalpaiguri [NJP] has already been completed during the first pandemic lockdown in 2020. The traditional route consists of stations Tin Mile Haat, Dumdangi etc. between Aluabari Road Jn. [AUBR] and NJP, which is electrified. But this train i.e. 22611/12 runs via a different route between AUBR and NJP which consists of stations Thakurganj, Naksalbari, Bagdogra, Siliguri Jn. etc. which is a single diesel line (as of March 2022). Therefore, this is the Only train remaining which runs with a Diesel loco from Durgapur [DGR] till New Jalpaiguri [NJP].

There are other trains which previously used to get a diesel loco from/till DGR but as their route goes via the traditional electrified route, their Diesel duty ends at Rangiya Jn. [RNY], Guwahati [GHY], New Coochbehar [NCB] or New Jalpaiguri [NJP]. These trains include :
