Heavy rained turned into a snowstorm that many people in St. Louis won't ever forget. It was Jan. 30, 1982, when 14 inches of snow blanketed the metro.

For two days, St. Louis was hammered with heavy snow, forcing schools, businesses and government offices to close. The airport, Amtrak and roads across the St. Louis metro, including major interstates, were shut down by the wintry weather.

In fact, the National Weather Service said the blizzard of 1982 was the biggest snowfall event seen by St. Louis in 70 years, dating back to 1912.

Some people were stranded for days, with the snow situation being made worse by plows blocking driveways as crews worked to clear roads. #mowx #stlwx #KSDK
