In our last reel we talked about how the liver communicates with us, signaling imbalances through various physiological signs. Today we delve into practical solutions to nourish your liver and restore harmony to your body.
Food plays a critical role in supporting liver health. Opt for easily digestible foods, such as a combination of bitter vegetables such as watercress and arugula and vinegar, along with citrus fruits. They help combat oxidative stress. Reduce saturated fats, reduce the intake of refined products and refrain from consuming alcohol. Remember to chew your food well, at least 30 times before swallowing, to aid digestion and optimize nutrient absorption.
Movement is key to promoting the flow of Qi. Perform gentle exercises such as yoga and Tai Chi or Qigong to stimulate circulation and relieve stagnation. These practices not only benefit the liver but also promote general well-being.
Cultivating relaxation is essential to achieve emotional well-being, but meditation is often difficult for us to approach.
Alternatively, deep breathing exercises and acupuncture help induce a state of calm and balance.
Of all the daily techniques I share with you two that have worked exceptionally well for me.
First, the breathing technique known as 4-7-8, where you inhale for 4 seconds, hold the breath for 7 seconds, and exhale for 8 seconds, for no more than 30 breaths.
If you have more time available, take 30 minutes and do the pranayama breathing. This technique effectively oxygenates the body, promoting relaxation and clarity.
The ideal is to do acupuncture, but if you can't, acupressure on the liver meridians is the solution. Massage the acupressure point called “Taichong” (Liver 3), which stimulates a key point in the Liver canal. While it may hurt at first, this indicates that you are hitting all the right points, effectively unblocking your Liver Qi and promoting energy flow.
