This video provides another “facilitation explanation, description, structuring, and educational outcomes” 101-style video for PME educators, design theorists, and other academia. In the Facilitation 101 JSOU design series, the JSOU design faculty showcase one of their unique design techniques, exercises or other design application and explain how others can replicate the same effects in the classroom, complete with how to resource, set-up, execute, and consider the andragogic outcomes for these adult-learning, military design educational events. Here, the “Puzzle” challenge is shown. This exercise was created by Mr. Nathan Schwagler during his extensive career in commercial, industry and academic facilitation sessions on innovation, creativity and problem-solving and based on his own ideas and experiences. Since joining JSOU, Nate introduced the JSOU design faculty to this exercise and with some developments and variations, today it is done in every single SOC 3440 basic design and innovation course for thousands of USSOCOM, Department of Defense, other USG agency students, as well as internationally around the world for multiple military partners and students
