Venerable Thubten Chodron highlights how Shantideva's text "Engaging in the Bodhisattva's Deeds" asks us to look at sentient beings in different ways, in different chapters. In Chapter 8, "Meditation," Shantideva points out how our attachment to childish sentient beings and their nonvirtuous activities is a major obstacle to our development of meditative concentration. Venerable Chodron reviews verses 5-7 and goes on to give commentary to verses 8-13.
