On January 17, CentreCanada Newcomer Services Society hosted a meaningful community event at its Burnaby office in collaboration with the United Sudanese Community Association.

Members of the United Sudanese community gathered for an evening focused on learning, connection, and support for newcomers. Community leaders Abdul Jabbar and Moussa Adam shared their thoughts and experiences, highlighting the importance of understanding life in Canada, learning a new language, and finding employment opportunities.

Moussa Adam delivered a presentation focused on career paths for youth and newcomers. He emphasized that newcomers do not need perfect English to begin working and that many job opportunities are available for those who already have skills. He encouraged community members to take the first step and use available resources to start their journey.

A representative from CentreCanada also shared best practices for running and growing a non profit organization. This session introduced valuable information about grants, programs, and community activities that were previously unknown to many attendees.

The evening created a welcoming space for knowledge sharing and collaboration, and the United Sudanese Community Association expressed sincere appreciation to CentreCanada for opening its doors and supporting their community.
