I figured I should throw down some grass seed on my trails to help stabilize the soil and keep it from running off during heavy rainstorms. But I wanted to rough up the surface so the seeds would take root more easily. So I decided to use my Ironcraft UM-56 tiller for that job. I lowered the skids down as far as they would go so that the tines of the tiller would be just barely touching the surface of the soil. The idea was to just rough up the surface a bit, not dig down and chew up the ground. I was also able to fine tune the depth using the hydraulic top link to adjust the angle of engagement of the tines. Seemed to do just what I wanted this way.

So I did all the trails except for the latest one, which is not finished yet. And took video along the way. The next day I manually spread the grass seed, as there was rain in the forecast for the following couple of days. And yeah, rain it did. More heavily than I thought it might. So I hope it didn't wash all the grass seed into big puddles up and down the paths and instead drove the seed down into the ground where they were. Time will tell, of course.
