Probably like many youtube viewers, I adored the movie "Mamma Mia" starring Meryl Streep as well as many other talented actors and singers. What's more, who can't help but love the Abba music as the score? In any case, when I heard that Skopelos Island was one of the locations where the movie was filmed, I felt compelled to visit. One of the most striking settings in the film is that of Agios Ioannis, the chapel situated on a rocky outcrop on the eastern coast of the island. Not only could I see it from the ferry travelling between Skiathos and Skopelos, but I was also able to visit the location by foot. Truth be told, it is a bit of a slog from the town of Glossa...about 10 km away one way. Oh, well. Great views, great swimming, great re-enactment of "Winner Takes It All" number. I brought a Vera Bradley scarf with me all of the way from the USA to "mimic" Meryl Streep's character. Oh, goodness! I am a fan of the movie, a fan of Abba, and a fan of Hazell Dean. I don't own the rights to anything here. I am also now a fan of Skopelos, quite possibly the greenest island I visited in Greece. Cheers!
