What a good way to end my overseas elevator exploration at home with...an Orona. Yes, that Spanish brand that everyone is familar with has been discovered again in Indonesia, here in the domestic terminal of Ngurah Rai Airport! Probably the sixth Orona elevator discovered in Indonesia, and this was just installed about two years ago.

This elevator replaced the previous 1998 Toshiba hydraulic elevator located in the arrival hall closest to the baggage claim area which I've filmed before in 2018. I have actually known this last year but forgot to film it, so now that I arrived here again I had to film it because Orona is very rare in Indonesia. For this case, this is the second Orona to be installed in the airport after the service elevator at the northern end of the terminal which was installed in 2018. That one also replaced a Toshiba hydraulic elevator.

Now to this elevator. Performance wise it runs very smooth and so does the door operation, a fine example of Orona's European quality. No signs of serious issues, except probably the cracked mirror on the rear wall despite being brand new. Unlike the other Orona in the terminal, this one uses the standard Orona fixtures with the iconic green illuminating round buttons and a rather fancy LCD floor indicator inside but lacks of time and date. And it's properly branded as Orona as well. Sadly all the buttons are currently blocked as foot pedals are now being used as part of the airport's health protocol, and it's the same type of pedals as the ones used in the other elevator featuring push buttons that serve as indication as well as a backup in case one of the pedals breaks down. It also comes with the standard English voice announcement which is nice. Interior is basic and standard which is okay for a medium sized airport. Shame about the cracked mirror though.

The new elevator is now slightly smaller than the old one and the car is just a normal box shaped compared with the old one which was a standard bed sized. This means that there is an extra space left behind the elevator since I believe the existing shaft is retained. Overall, ths particular elevator is much nicer than the other one. While the new Orona looks nice and rare (at least here in Indonesia), the previous Toshiba was much nicer and rarer but hey at least they didn't replace this with a nasty generic. Kudos to Angkasa Pura for choosing a proper brand to replace the older elevators here!

About Orona, as I've said before, they are very very rare in Indonesia and so far there have been six of them discovered; four of them are the new 3G models like this one. For reference, the Ambon airport also uses an Orona like this. In Indonesia, Orona is currently distributed by PT. Mandiri Nusantara Djaya, a local company based in Denpasar, Bali who also install LINES (a local generic brand) and both Fuji Fe and Siglen elevators from China. This is why the other Orona elevator in this terminal is branded as LINES. But I hope there will be more and more Orona elevators installed here in the future because as we all know Orona is very nice, and it's even nicer and better than its domestic competitor MP Lifts (that brand is also sold in Indonesia through Marico Gria btw).
