Baltimore celebrates 13-year low in homicides but residents remain divided on optimism

As Baltimore enters the new year, the city is reflecting on a significant milestone: a 13-year low in homicides. In 2024, the city recorded 201 homicides, marking a 23% reduction from the previous year. However, some residents are divided on whether this decrease in violent crime is cause for optimism.

"I'm happy to hear that the numbers are going in the right direction," said a woman shopping at a North Baltimore supermarket.
