Close to 1,000 feared dead after Cyclone Chido hits Mayotte

A major rescue operation is underway on the French island of Mayotte in the Indian Ocean, where a cyclone is feared to have killed almost 1,000 people.

Forecasters said Chido was the strongest storm to hit the island in more than 90 years.
