Finding Buried Treasure on Grike, Crag Fell & Lank Rigg

Описание к видео Finding Buried Treasure on Grike, Crag Fell & Lank Rigg

A great day out over the Lake District climbing the three most Westerly Wainwrights, Grike, Crag Fell & Lank Rigg, all brand new Fells for me. We uncover the legend of buried treasure on the last and highest summit of the day Lank Rigg and I leave a surprise for some lucky person to find before I leave. I park off the roadside with free parking just passed Blakeley Raise Stone Circle, which is just over a mile passed Ennerdale Bridge and start the walk from there. The walk starts with a lovely clear path towards the forest area and continues on the same path out of the forest until we divert away from the main path to the first summit of the day Grike, which has a great shelter and summit cairn. After a break I take the short walk over to the second and best summit Crag Fell, which offers great views over Ennerdale Water and the High Fells over the Ennerdale Valley. An extended lunch break set me up for the long walk over to the none Wainwright summit of Whoap, before dropping down and then taking the long and steep climb up to the final and highest summit of the day Lank Rigg, where our treasure hunt starts. I drop back down the same way I went up, until I see the path leading me on the ‘very long’ walk back to the road, through the valley, which was wet and boggy in places, with a couple of small stream crossings. This path will lead you back to the road and then the road walk back to the car, which was longer than I was expecting!
