Fenn Blue-Fin S, a fast surfski!

Описание к видео Fenn Blue-Fin S, a fast surfski!

I keep getting questions via instagram or email here about the Blue-Fin: is it too slow? Is it good for a beginner? etc.
It is a good surfski and not just for beginners. When the sea is rough we are all happy to be paddling a Bluefin! It is stable, it handles big waves well and you can stop paddling even in big choppy water if you need to rest. Trying that in a narrow surfski will be challenging. More important, it is easy to remount whatever the sea condition! I can remount a Fenn Mako Elite in normal conditions but I know it is going to be tough in rough sea with its deep bucket and high rails.
It is not slow either. I don't know where that reputation is coming from. You can keep 10km/h / 6.2 mph without much trouble if you are reasonably fit. It can sprint with some very light swells to 16km/h / 10mph quite easily. It is only if you paddle with some very competitive paddlers that you might find it 'slow' but things will even out in choppy seas and you will be having fun, not stress 😉
In this video you can see how easy it is to paddle the Bluefin, from near standstill to sprint. I am paddling Nick's Bluefin S which is a hybrid version, a very good compromise between the carbon and the fibreglass. Nick is paddling a Spirit PRS in this clip. We are both in our mid fifties and not exactly fit...
