갤러리바톤은 지난 6월 챕터투에서 개최된 최지목 작가의 개인전을 기록한 작가 인터뷰를 공개한다. 작가는 보편적인 시각예술 매체의 형태인 사각 틀과 고착된 형식에 저항하고, 대안을 제시하는 방식으로서 레디메이드 작업을 진행해왔다. 그는 독일 유학시절부터 흥미를 갖고 작업을 시도한 바 있는 ‘보는’ 행위에 다시금 주목한 신작을 소개했다. 본 인터뷰를 통해 작가 자신이 주관적으로 지각한 빛의 잔상 형태와 강렬한 색감을 품은 새로운 시리즈에 대한 소회를 감상할 수 있다.

Gallery Baton is pleased to share an interview with Jimok Choi on the occasion of his exhibition at Chapter II in June 2023. Choi has been working on ready-made works to resist the square frame and fixed format of the universal visual art medium and to offer an alternative. He introduced a new series that focus on the act of 'seeing', which he has been interested in and trying to work on since he studied in Germany. In the interview, he reflects on his new series, which features residual shapes of light and intense colors as subjectively perceived by the artist himself.

+ Chapter II, a not-for-profit program, provides studio spaces, curatorial support, and exhibition opportunities to artists. As a collaborative project with Gallery Baton, it supports emerging and talented artists.
