I’ve been wanting to start this video series since I moved to Nelson 2 years ago, and now seems to be the appropriate time. I also knew that being new to the area, I needed to find a perfect musical fit for the inaugural episode.

I watched social media closely, and came across a local singer who kept appearing as the “local opener” for some pretty big touring acts. I soon began following her and quickly decided she had to be my first guest.


Her name is Diana Rose.


Her performance exceeded any and all expectations! Adhering to Social Distancing, this was my own private concert, and I can not describe the emotion it evoked.

Raw power and soul, combined with an obvious technical skill only possible after years of honing, her voice is unlike anything I’ve heard.

When she sings and shares her stories, you don’t just imagine it - you feel it; you experience it.

I’ve been known to often diminish my compliments for my peers by using the term “local”. My favourite “local” band, or favourite “local” guitarist.

Well not Diana, she is legitimately among my favourite musicians in the world. Her musical phrasing and ability to make you groove without realizing it is uncanny.

I cannot express my gratitude enough for the chance to watch and capture this performance in person.
