It started with the broadcast of “Mobile Suit Gundam” in 1979. “Gundam” are a type of weapon called MS (mobile suits) featured throughout the many series of the franchise. “Gundam” is enjoyed worldwide in various forms of media. The collective name of the series is “Gundam”.

The anime series that began with "Mobile Suit Gundam" broadcast in 1979 is called the "Gundam Series. It is a science fiction work in which a fictional robot "Gundam" appears.
