Pee-wee's Big Adventure (1985) by Tim Burton, Clip: Pee-wee (dreams he) wins the Tour de France!

The Image: Pee-wee manically grinning, his childlike face aglow as he cruises in for that big win at the Tour de France! (And who does not have a bit of a fantasy life à laWalter Mitty?)

And - as you may know I have a penchant for bright, plastic colours! (Go to Bergman if you want a dark, depressing oeuvre of greys and blacks...) Here are a lot of Happy, shiny colours!

(Was sorry to hear that Paul Reubens died* July 30/2023. Like many people I followed his career as Pee-wee Herman and all the subsequents ups and downs during the 80s (Ya all know what I am talking about).
Being a strait-laced British teenager at the time (1986), I remember thinking in my rather limited view of America (never having been there!) how entirely 'American' Paul Reubens was - actually becoming and living his character. (A bit like Andy Kaufman I suppose)
I know people had some reservations about the character - and retrospectively I share some concerns - but still a marriage made in eccentric comedy Heaven - Pee-wee and Tim Burton. It had to happen!
ps - I saw this film in Truro, circa 1986 for those who are interested!)
