High rank in 3/ 3U is when the game starts to truly pose a challenge, and most of the monsters with a unique gimmick begin to strut their stuff, like the Great baggi having it's pack sleeping you on command which is followed up by a body tackle, or the Barroth flinging mud after it's charges.
Then there the Qurupeco.
Being an expert at mimicry, they can summon monsters into the fray, depending on the area. Diablos in the desert, Rathian in the forest, Rathalos in the Deserted Island..
Or the Deviljho.
And since Deviljho has the entire world as a hunting ground, there is a good chance the Quru will summon the overgrown cucumber and really make for an interesting experience. Needless to say, it's a good idea to bring dung bombs when fighting a HR or GR Qurupeco. Me being me, I forgot this little detail since Quru has been MIA for over a decade now. I guess too many hunters got bullied by its favorite green dinosaur.
Now for the changes of Crimson has over its normal variant
Crimson Quru's flintstones are electrically charged, so rather than fireblight, you get thunderblight, which means easy hunter stuns. The tail whips also gain wind pressure, so if you attack without using moves that grant natural wind resistance, like the hammers super pound or the swords jumping slash, you will be pushed away. Finally, since gypceros wasn't present, Curu gains the flashbang technique, which has a very obvious tell, much like the gypceros. Unlike like the gypceros, there is no stopping the flashbang effect after breaking the voltstones on the tips of the Curu's wings, if memory serves me right. Which often fails to do so. Despite the changes, the battle strats remain largely the same: Trip it up and smash the noggin with your weapon of choice. Deviljho helped me out more than it hindered me, and I was half tempted to hunt it. Another time perhaps.
