Nature's Survivors Behavioral and Physical Adaptations of Deer

Описание к видео Nature's Survivors Behavioral and Physical Adaptations of Deer

Hi, kids! I’m Ranger Mindy, and today we’re going to learn about the amazing white-tailed deer. These deer are super smart and can live in lots of different places all across North and Central America. They love to eat plants like leaves, fruits, and nuts, and they change what they eat depending on the season.

In the fall, male deer, called bucks, like to be alone and protect their own areas, especially when they’re trying to find a mate. Female deer, called does, often stay in small groups with their babies. White-tailed deer talk to each other with sounds like grunts and snorts, and they also use their tails to warn others if there’s danger nearby.

These deer are very fast and can jump high to escape predators. They can also hear and smell really well, which helps them stay safe. Their fur changes color with the seasons to help them blend in, which is called camouflage. Because they can live in so many different places and find food almost anywhere, white-tailed deer are one of the most successful animals in the wild!

Come visit me at Ray Roberts Lake State Park to see if you can spot one of these incredible creatures!
