Here you see a setup to test the effectiveness of ultrasound on rats and mice.

As you can see, the rat clearly shows neophobia and escape behavior. Here it is a Norway rat (Rattus norvegicus).

The ultrasound pest repeller used here has five modes, three of which have different frequency ranges. Here mode 1 was used: 13.5 to 19.5 kHz.

In addition the repeller has a motion sensor for which the sensitivity can be adjusted. This means that the sound is only triggered when something moves in front of the device.
