In today’s video, I’m going to show you how to run a disk check in Windows 10 using the command prompt application.

Before we get started you’ll need to identify the letter of your local disk drive that you’re going to be running the disk check on.

To get started:
1. Go into the Windows start bar, and type in “File Explorer” and click on the “File Explorer” search result.
2. Once the file explorer opens up, click on the “This PC” item from the left hand side.
3. From this screen, you can see the letter of your local disk drive. For me, my local disk drive is using the letter “C”, and this is the most common letter used for local disk drives.
4. Now to begin the disk check, go into the Windows start bar, and type in “CMD”, and right click on the “Command Prompt” application, and select the “Run as administrator” option.
5. Once command prompt opens up you’ll want to type in the following command “chkdsk C: /f”.
6. Now hit the enter key on your keyboard.
7. You’ll now see this message asking if you would like to schedule your hard drive to be ran the next time your computer restarts.
8. Now hit the “Y” key on your keyboard, and hit the enter key.
9 Now when you restart your computer the disk check will run, and hopefully any issues you’re facing with your hard drive will be fixed.

And it’s as easy as that, running the disk check on your computer is an easy task to perform.
