The Sooke Region Museum (40 minutes drive from downtown Victoria, along the Sooke Road/Hwy 14) has an extensive archive and a significant collection of photographs, machinery and artifacts from Sooke's past. The main Museum building, contains many exhibits as well as an art gallery, Gift Shop and Visitor Information Centre.There are special displays and artifacts found outside on the Museum grounds. These include a working restored steam engine yarder, blacksmith shop, and a rotating lighthouse light.
