When many think of a negotiation, they generally assume a them vs us mentality. In reality, a negotiation is really just a conversation. So what are the elements of a great conversation? A few elements are being open-minded, honest, fair, and reasonable. Let's build upon that premise so you'll be negotiating your home price like a boss!
In practice, I share with my client's to simply #JTAB = Just Take a Breath it'll be alright as we move forward together. Remember, FEAR = False Evidence Appearing Real. What's the best way to replace FEAR? With knowledge and you're doing that right now. Kudos!

Timeline:
1. 1:11 - Think about the price and terms that are important to you! When you're buying a house it's much more than just the price at play, the devil is in the details aka terms of the contract!
2. 2:17 - Example of how to negotiate a real estate contract! Work with your trusted real estate advisor to help you with the best negotiation strategies for what you need to achieve during the negotiation process.
3. 3:59 - How many counter-offers are "normal?" Keeping your wits about you and your emotions in check will help your with knowing which negotiation tactics to use and when.
4. 4:48 - Negotiation tips for counter offers!
5. 6:28 - Learn to read between the lines! What information can we learn about the sellers overall situation and why they are selling their house? Be real about this and consider how you would respond if you were in their shoes.
6. 8:03 - When negotiating, please realize time is of the essence! Be ready to respond quickly. Consider how you feel when something important to you is at stake yet in other person's control. That pit in your stomach can only be absolved by knowing the outcome. The not knowing part is worse then even an unfavorable response when known. Respond swiftly with what you are comfortable committing to moving forward!
7. 8:57 - Don't forget to meet the deadlines! Not doing so can cause your real estate negotiation to fall apart!
8. 9:47 - Get it all in writing! Getting it on paper, in writing, is the cornerstone of all successful negotiation tips and tricks! A verbal negotiation might be fun sometimes but unless it's transcribed in writing, it's meaningless! This will help everyone feel great about their decision and provide clarity moving forward.
9. 10:10 - Be respectful and considerate! We're all people! We're all much more alike than we are not and always stronger and better together then we are apart. Keep that in mind. Everyone knows both the buyer and seller want the best deal possible for each of them. That doesn't mean hurting others. In practice I've seen deals fall apart for lack of respect and understanding. It's not about screwing anyone over, it's about finding the balance that everyone agree to moving forward. Be calm, cool, and collected!
10. 10:40 - Think of real estate negotiations as a conversation, it'll replace anxiety with confidence.
