The WWE Universal Championship has been established in July 2016. The winner of the qualifier will face Seth Rollins at Summerslam for the title. The first match was between Cesaro, Rusev, Kevin Owens and Finn Balor. Kevin kicked Cesaro in the face and hit Rusev with a cannon ball. Finn threw Kevin into Rusev, hit him with a sling blade, hit Rusev with a dropkick and then hit him with the Coup de Grâce to win the match. In the other match, it was Chris Jericho, Sheamus, Sami Zayn and Roman Reigns. Roman went for the spear, Jericho countered and hit him with the codebreaker, but Roman kicked out. Roman dodged Jericho and hit him with the spear to win the match. Roman and Finn met in the final. Finn countered Roman, hit him with a dropkick and then with the Coup de Grâce to win the match. At Summerslam, Finn Balor came out as The Demon to face Seth. Seth countered Finn and hit him with The Pedigree but Finn kicked out. Finn dodged Seth, dropkicked him, Seth caught him and hit him with the superplex, went for the pedigree but Finn countered, jumped on him, dropkicked him, dropkicked him again and then hit him with the Coup de Grâce to become the first universal champion.
