Over a billion students worldwide are unable to go to school or university due to measures to stop the spread of COVID-19. The pandemic is expected to have enormous economic consequences and it is also having a devasting impact on global education, causing a tremendous level of stress for students, parents, and educators at home and abroad. This virtual conference aims to assess the current situation, dilemmas, needs and future of Chinese international students resulted from the COVID-19 outbreak worldwide, as well as provide insights and perspectives from a group of prominent experts drawn from the leading international education agencies, including universities and colleges, flagship corporations, international schools, and private consultancies. They will seek to address the following issues that emerged from the ongoing global health crisis:
How has COVID-19 disrupted current and prospective Chinese students’ overseas educational journey? Which proposals from the domestic and international education communities will help break the state of limbo for Chinese students studying abroad during the pandemic?
Will the pandemic erode confidence in the future of international education? How are universities and colleges dependent on Chinese students supply chain coping with the pressure?
How is coronavirus changing education institutions’ recruitment and admission practices? What are strategies for realigning markets and supplies?
The wisdom and necessity of increased online learning options can no longer be denied during the pandemic. Will a wider role for virtual learning strengthen or weaken the architecture of international education industry?
Will COVID-19 change the internationalization process of Chinese universities? How?
The ongoing global outbreak of coronavirus is ushering in a period of shifting geopolitics. What does the changing international context, the intensifying US-China competition in particular, mean for the future of international education and China’s talent acquisition strategy?
