KONE Hydraulic Elevator @ Von Maur, The Village of Rochester Hills, Rochester Hills, MI

This is the elevator in the brand new Von Maur department store at The Village of Rochester Hills. Despite my prediction that Von Maur would replace the previous tenant's lift with a new EcoSpace, they kept the old lift from Carson's, though with a new, more upscale cab. This early 2000s KONE hydro still runs as if it was brand new, with all of the lights and chimes in working order, and the rare "alarm clock" indicator.

This building was originally a Parisian store, which opened in September 2002 as an original anchor of the Village. Parisian's locations in the Midwest were acquired by The Bon-Ton in 2007, and the three in Metro Detroit were rebranded as Carson's in 2013. All three closed on August 29, 2018 as part of The Bon-Ton's bankruptcy, and this building sat vacant until purchased by Von Maur, who opened a new store in the space on March 19, 2022.
