What came before the well known and well loved Hamburger? It was a minced meat dish with pine nuts, pepper, and flavorings of wine. This originated in ancient Rome. The name Hamburger originated from Germany. Germany also served a mixture of beef with other spices and eventually brought this cuisine over to America.

The iconic Big Mac was invented on April 22, 1967 by Jim Delligatti. That makes the Big Mac 57 years old, and still just as loved as it was when it was invented. A Big Mac is a burger from McDonald’s that consists of two beef patties as well as three buns, and at the core of the burger, there is lettuce, onion, cheese, and Big Mac Sauce.

Big Mac Sauce is a sweet and tangy sauce that is added to the core of the Big Mac. Chef Fran offers a wonderful homemade version that goes inside these Mini Big Mac Sliders. Jim Delligatti also created the Big Mac Sauce in 1967. This special sauce is a mixture of mayonnaise, mustard, relish, vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
