Despite years of unrest and migration of many Pandit families, Raina had chosen to remain in the Valley — a decision that now stands as a powerful testament to the enduring bond between communities.
Locals described Raina as a respected and integral part of the village, and on the day of his passing, people from all walks of life gathered to honour him. From arranging the wood for his cremation to chanting prayers and accompanying the funeral procession, the Muslim community stood shoulder-to-shoulder with their Hindu neighbors, reinforcing the message of brotherhood and peace.
This rare yet heartwarming scene not only captured the emotional depth of Kashmir’s syncretic culture but also served as a reminder that love and respect can thrive even amid conflict and divisions.
