Since Russia’s invasion in 2022, Ukraine has become a symbol of democratic resistance – mobilising international military and political support, rallying for sanctions against Russian aggression, and uniting much of the world behind a common cause.

But after a fiery Oval Office meeting in February, where US President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance berated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, global alliances have been thrown into new uncertainty – and the stakes have shifted.

In this timely and urgent conversation, Ambassador Vasyl Myroshnychenko spoke with Sally Warhaft, about the implications of this diplomatic fallout, the evolving nature of the conflict and the global significance of Ukraine’s fight for sovereignty.
