Shark Apex Vacuum Problem: Brushrolls Stopping & Headlights Flashing

Shark Apex Duo Clean with Zero-M Model AZ1000W Problem.

This video documents the problem we experienced with 3 different Shark Apex vacuums. When vacuuming, the brushrolls stop momentarily, the headlights flash and the brushroll indicator light turns off. After the brushrolls stop, the headlights come back on again and the brushrolls ramp back up to speed. This happens over and over again as you vacuum, making it just about unusable. This video was made with the carpet height selector on "carpet/low pile", but the problem is the same on the "thick carpet/area rug" setting. The vacuum seems to work ok on bare floors (where there is no drag on the brushrolls). Please comment if you have experienced this same problem, or if you have found a solution/fix. The original unit and two replacement units (sent under warranty) all have this defect.

The Shark phone customer service is atrocious. I eventually gave up on that route and started contacting them via email at [email protected]. Maybe it's a different customer service branch or something, but after a few emails, I was able to reach someone with the authority to actually solve my problem and they sent me a different model (a Shark Vertex). So far, the Vertex is working well. I did have to ship back all of the other vacuums and parts that they had sent me in order to get the new model. Shark paid the shipping, so it was just the hassle of packing it all back up and taking it to a FedEx location.
