Southern Pacific 4449: The Rebirth 1975 - 1981

This is a video I put together last year and had just been sitting on for awhile, and decided that it would be best if it got seen!

This is a series of films shot by several railfans documenting the SP 4449's return to service for the American Freedom Train, and its first trip in Daylight colors. See the 4449 at many of SP's well known locations such as Donner Pass, The Coast Line, The Shasta Route, The Peninsula, The Cal-P, The West Valley Line, and Tehachapi. These sequences were shot on 8mm and Super 8mm by 5 different railfans. The sounds are all of the real 4449 with most being recorded between 1975 and 1981.
