The broadsword or saber (刀) played an important role in Chinese history in both the military and the martial arts circles for centuries. It was considered an easy weapon to learn and apply and thus commonly used by infantry. This form is named after the character Yin Qing in the epic Chinese novel, "The Water Margin", considered one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature.
