City of Lloydminster | Curbside Collection

This curbside collection video demonstrates how to properly place the garbage and organics carts, as well as blue bags, to ensure easy pickup on collection days.

Curbside collection crews will soon be stopping by your neighbourhood!

Every week throughout spring, summer, and early fall, the City of Lloydminster collects organics, recycling, and garbage from more than 8,400 homes like yours in Lloydminster.

To help ensure your bins and recyclables are collected each week, here are a few tips:
● Have your carts and bags of recycling out before 7 a.m. on your collection day, spaced 1 metre apart. Do not park in front of bins until collection has been completed.
● All organic food waste must be bagged in certified compostable bags before being placed in the green cart, while grass clippings and small branches can go directly into the green cart as normal.
● Place your carts on the street so that the wheels are to the curb—this allows bins to be collected by the equipment.
● Ensure the lids are fully closed, as bins with partially open lids will not be collected.
● Any extra bags or loose material beside your bins will not be collected. If you end up with extra waste during the week, you can take your trash and proof of residency to the landfill to dispose of your excess waste for free.
● Lastly, be mindful of overloading your cart. Our equipment cannot pick up bins weighing over 200 pounds.

Improperly organized waste carts are inspected during pickup and at the plant. If violations are found at the plant, the entire batch of recyclables collected from that neighbourhood will be rejected and sent to a landfill—this reduces the amount of waste recycled and is costly.

If your carts or recycling aren’t collected, look for a violation sticker. This sticker will identify the reason for rejection and how you can correct the issue for your next collection day.
