The Game That Disappeared

Visions of Mana poofed into existence, and the thing looked sharp! We knew it was coming - Trials of Mana did well enough to greenlight something nice for the fans, but not necessarily something new. Mana has an interesting internal lineage that I'm particularly interested in tracing. You know you're getting Elementals, you know you're getting a sword, but soon enough things start getting funky. Few games keep the same fundamental framework, but sway so consistently. Mana is Mana, but what exactly is Mana? See if we can't get it 20/20.
