Описание к видео 1906 Columbia BC Cylinder Graphophone Phonograph Playing 2 Indestructible Cylinders Nice & Loud : )

Here is one (of two) 1906 Columbia model BC 20th Century Graphophones from my collection with the large Higham Reproducer. This one is sitting on its lovely original Herzog model 717 cylinder cabinet with eye catching serpentine front. I'm playing a couple of 2 minute Albany Indestructible cylinders. Rarely will you find ANY Columbia BC Graphophone capable of producing any sound at all from a cylinder due to deterioration of the original amber friction wheel and original vulcanized rubber shoe assembly. It was a complicated friction amplification system that provided AMAZING volume and clarity, but unfortunately, worked only for a relatively short period of time. I have meticulously gone through this one from top to bottom and it plays beautifully as you will hear in the video. The sound almost over drives the camera microphone. My other Columbia BC Graphophone does not yet play as I'm needing the vulcanized rubber shoe assembly and some stylus bar parts for it. As always, I thank you for stopping in for a visit and hope that you will enjoy the pictures and the video!
