This video poster describes a possible scenario for creation of the youngest, 0.9 million years Cenozoic basalt in the Khorat Plateau, from the Hainan mantel plume.
The previous chapters describe Splash form, Muong Nong, Mini and Micro tektites, together with numerous other rocks and grains, and landscape morphologies, evidencing a celestial impact.
The impact likely created a transient crater to a depth of 5 km, and a hydrothermal explosion of groundwater comminuted the many km2 of quartz sandstones. The crater reached deep enough for the Hainan mantle plume to erupt; first with a phreatic eruption of gasses, followed by hot flow basalt.
The enormous amounts of comminuted quartz and other grains settled, heating Muong Nong tektite precursors to around 2000 °C, and carbonized tree trunks. Then torrential rains reformed the landscape by huge debris and mud flows, creating the low and high terraces, redirecting tributary rivers. Yasothon soil settled vertically in the water, leaving no fluvial traces.
