Singapore-Malaysia airspace dispute: Ministerial statement

Singapore Foreign Affairs Minister Vivian Balakrishnan delivered a ministerial statement on the Singapore-Malaysia airspace dispute in Parliament on Monday (Jan 14), saying the Instrument Landing System (ILS) was first installed at Seletar Airport at the request of Firefly, a subsidiary of Malaysian Airlines. Malaysia has now objected to this. Dr Balakrishnan also said the ILS “has not and will not” prevent the building of tall structures in the Pasir Gudang area as alleged by Malaysia.
