I show how to do a compression test without a compression gauge using just an active scan tool; the Autel scanner, Autel MP808TS. This is demonstrated on Honda Accords 2013 – 2017 (9th gen Accord). If you are having symptoms of low compression and are looking for a compression test without special tools other than a scanner, or how to check engine compression with a scanner or how to check compression on your engine with a scanner, you will find this video helpful. No other tools are used; no oscilloscope, amp meter etc. To check cylinder compression with a scan tool, a competent scanner that supports active tests is necessary. A regular compression test requires the use of a good compression gauge as well as disabling fuel injectors, removal of spark plugs and ignition coils.
Testing engine compression with a scanner is quick and easy with scan tools such as the Autel MaxiPRO MP808, MP808TS, or other Autel bidirectional scanners. This test will work on recent Honda as well as other cars. You may need to verify if this works as demonstrated on your car.
